Refund & Cancellation Policy

Version 1.2 — effective August 29, 2026. All humanizes policies.

In plain language

  • A monthly or annual subscription renews until you cancel it online; cancellation stops the next renewal but does not undo the period already bought.
  • Annual plans are billed once a year in advance and are non-refundable — cancelling one stops the next yearly charge, it does not return the current year's payment (statutory rights unaffected).
  • A one-time 3-Day Pass expires after 72 hours and never renews.
  • Unused plan allowance and word credits do not roll over and are not refunded merely because you cancel.
  • We normally refund genuine billing errors and a complete failure to provide the paid Service, but not an allowance already used or dissatisfaction with AI output after use.
  • Consumers may have statutory withdrawal, refund and service-quality rights that this Policy does not take away.

1. What this Policy covers

This Policy applies to paid plans, passes and one-time word-credit purchases from humanizes, the operator of humanizes.com (humanizes, we, us, our). It forms part of the Terms of Service.

You are buying time-limited access to an online Service and a word allowance available during the applicable period. You are not buying a stored product, a downloadable copy of software, or ownership of capacity on our systems. Current offers and their price are shown on the Pricing page and at Stripe checkout.

2. Subscriptions, passes and word credits

Subscriptions (monthly and annual)
Plus and Ultra provide access and an included allowance for each paid monthly period, whether the plan is billed monthly or annually. They renew automatically until cancelled — monthly plans each month, annual plans once a year. Enterprise arrangements follow the order form or other written terms agreed with the customer.
Annual plans are non-refundable
An annual plan is charged once a year in advance and the charge is non-refundable. Cancelling an annual plan stops the next yearly renewal; it does not return the current year's payment, and unused allowance in the remaining months is not returned. This ordinary rule is subject to any statutory right or specific refund ground described below — see Statutory rights prevail.
3-Day Pass
The pass is a one-time purchase providing access for 72 hours. It expires automatically at the end of that period and never renews.
Word-credit top-ups
A top-up is a one-time purchase used when a request exceeds the allowance attached to the active plan. Credits are not money, cannot be redeemed for cash and are consumed when used.

Unused allowance is not returned

Unused plan allowance and unused word credits do not roll over into another plan period and are not refunded when you cancel. This ordinary rule is subject to any statutory right or specific refund ground described below.

3. How to cancel a subscription

  1. Open your account page and follow the link to the Stripe billing portal.
  2. Choose the active subscription and confirm cancellation in the portal.
  3. Keep the confirmation. The account page will show the end of the paid period.

You can cancel online without calling or emailing us. Cancellation stops the next renewal. It does not end access immediately: you keep the paid features until the current paid period ends. It does not reverse an earlier charge, retroactively convert use into free use, or itself create a refund.

Deleting your account from the Security section of the account page is immediate and irreversible and also cancels billing. Because deletion ends access immediately, export anything you want to keep first. Deleting the account does not alter any refund right you already have.

4. Our ordinary refund practice

We decide non-statutory refund requests consistently using the evidence available, including Stripe records, cancellation timestamps, service availability and usage. The table describes what we will normally do; it does not narrow a mandatory right under applicable law.

The normal practice for voluntary refunds; mandatory consumer remedies always prevail.
CircumstanceOur normal approachWhat helps us check
Duplicate or accidental chargeRefund the duplicate or clearly unintended charge, provided the associated allowance has not been materially used.Charge date, amount and Stripe receipt.
Charge after an effective cancellationRefund a renewal taken after our records show the subscription was cancelled.Cancellation confirmation and charge date.
Service failed to work at all for the paid periodRefund the affected period if the Service was wholly unavailable to you and we could not restore access or provide the paid benefit.Dates, error details and any support correspondence.
Renewal without required noticeRefund the renewal where applicable law or our contractual terms required advance notice and it was not given.Renewal receipt and the email address on the account.
Allowance was usedNormally no refund, except where a statutory remedy applies.Account usage records.
Dissatisfaction with output after useNormally no refund. AI output is variable, and no detector, originality or quality result is guaranteed. We may review whether a technical failure occurred, but not judge whether a draft met a subjective preference.
Academic, workplace or publishing outcomeNo refund merely because output was rejected, detected, penalised or did not produce the hoped-for result. The user remains responsible for review and permitted use under the Terms.
Forgotten cancellationNormally no refund where renewal notice was properly given and online cancellation remained available.Notice, billing and cancellation records.
Annual plan change of mindNo refund. Annual plans are sold as non-refundable: the charge covers the year ahead, and cancelling stops the next yearly renewal rather than returning the current one. Statutory remedies always prevail. The renewal and non-refundable disclosure shown next to the purchase button, recorded against the order, and billing records.

Where only part of a paid period was affected, we may provide a proportionate refund or restore the missing paid benefit. A pattern of repeated accidental-purchase requests, use followed by a refund request, or other evidence of abuse may lead us to refuse a discretionary refund.

5. EU and UK consumers — 14-day right of withdrawal

A STATUTORY RIGHT THAT MAY APPLY TO YOU

IF YOU ARE A CONSUMER IN THE EU OR UK, YOU GENERALLY HAVE 14 DAYS FROM CONCLUSION OF A DISTANCE CONTRACT TO WITHDRAW WITHOUT GIVING A REASON. Different consequences apply to a service and to digital content not supplied on a tangible medium.

SERVICE. If you expressly ask us to begin the Service during the 14-day period, you may still withdraw during that period, but you must pay a proportionate amount for the Service supplied up to the time you tell us. If the Service is fully performed within the period, the withdrawal right is lost only where you expressly requested early performance and acknowledged that consequence.

DIGITAL CONTENT. By choosing immediate supply, a consumer may expressly request performance during the withdrawal period and acknowledge losing the withdrawal right once the digital content is fully supplied. This reflects Article 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU and the UK Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

WE CAN RELY ON A WAIVER OR REQUIRE PROPORTIONATE PAYMENT ONLY WHERE THE CONSUMER GAVE THE REQUIRED EXPRESS CONSENT, REQUEST AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. Checkout now collects those three things separately, before you are taken to the payment page, and records what you agreed to against your order. If you did not give them — including for any purchase made before that surface existed — we will not treat ordinary use of the Service as the required express consent and acknowledgement.

To withdraw, send an unequivocal statement before the deadline by email to jakemorris@humanizes.com. You may copy this model statement: “I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract for the humanizes plan, pass or word credits ordered on [date]. My name is [name], my account email is [email], and the order reference is [reference]. Date: [date].” No particular form is required.

Where withdrawal is valid, we will reimburse payments due under the applicable law to the original payment method, subject to any lawful proportionate charge for a Service supplied at your express request. These rights are separate from remedies for digital content or services that do not conform to the contract.

6. United States automatic-renewal rights

State automatic-renewal laws, including those of California, New York and other states, may require clear renewal terms, consent, notices and an easy cancellation method. Monthly and annual subscriptions are identified as recurring at checkout and renew at the price then applicable until cancelled; the annual term and its non-refundable character are stated next to the purchase button, and we record that they were shown against the order.

  • Stripe emails a receipt for every charge. We do not currently send a separate reminder in advance of a renewal; where applicable law or our Terms require advance notice of a renewal or a price change, we give that notice before the renewal it applies to.
  • The Stripe billing portal linked from the account page provides a clear cancellation route.
  • A subscription bought online can be cancelled online without a telephone call, letter or support request.
  • A cancellation takes effect for future renewals while paid access continues to the end of the existing period.

If you believe a renewal occurred without a notice or cancellation right required in your state, request a review under How to request a refund.

7. Australian and other consumer guarantees

Non-excludable rights

For Australian consumers, our services come with guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. Depending on the failure, those rights may include having the service remedied, cancelling the contract, a refund, or compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss. Nothing in a “no refund” statement in this Policy applies where it would exclude or restrict one of those guarantees.

Consumers elsewhere may have equivalent mandatory guarantees, cooling-off rights or remedies for a service that is not supplied with reasonable care and skill, is not as described, or is not fit for a disclosed purpose. We apply this Policy subject to those rights.

8. Chargebacks and payment disputes

Contact us before starting a chargeback if you can safely do so: a duplicate charge or cancellation mismatch is usually quicker to resolve directly. This does not prevent you exercising a right to dispute a charge with your card issuer.

When a chargeback is raised, Stripe may reverse the payment while the issuer investigates. We may suspend the affected paid access and preserve relevant billing and usage records while the payment is unresolved. We will submit accurate records in response and will not mischaracterise your use. If the dispute is decided in your favour, the payment remains reversed; if it is decided in ours, we may restore access or require the outstanding payment before doing so. Fraudulent or repeated abusive disputes may result in account termination under the Terms of Service.

9. How refunds are paid

Approved refunds are sent through Stripe to the original payment method. We do not issue cash, store credit or payment to a different card or person. We initiate the refund promptly after approval. Banks commonly take about 5–10 business days to display it, although the time is controlled by Stripe, the card network and your bank and can be longer.

A refund covers only the amount actually charged for the approved transaction. Currency-conversion differences and fees charged independently by your bank are outside our control, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

10. How to request a refund

Email support@humanizes.com from the address on the account. Include the Stripe receipt or order reference, charge date, plan or pass, the reason for the request, and any cancellation confirmation or error details. Do not send full card numbers.

We will acknowledge and answer a complete request within 30 days. If we need information to identify the payment, that period starts when we receive it. A refusal will explain the principal reason and will not prevent you relying on a statutory remedy or contacting your payment provider.

11. Statutory rights prevail

NOTHING IN THIS POLICY LIMITS NON-WAIVABLE RIGHTS

NOTHING IN THIS POLICY EXCLUDES, RESTRICTS OR CONDITIONS A REFUND, WITHDRAWAL RIGHT, CONSUMER GUARANTEE OR OTHER REMEDY THAT APPLICABLE LAW DOES NOT ALLOW US TO EXCLUDE, RESTRICT OR CONDITION. Where this Policy conflicts with a non-waivable statutory right, that right prevails.

Version history

  • v1.2 — August 29, 2026: Corrected two descriptions of how the annual non-refundable term is presented. It is stated next to the purchase button and recorded as disclosed at purchase; there is no longer a separate acknowledgement collected before payment, so this Policy no longer cites one as evidence. The refund practice itself is unchanged.
  • v1.1 — August 25, 2026: Added annual billing: Plus and Ultra are now also offered as yearly subscriptions, and this Policy now states that annual plans are non-refundable (subject always to non-waivable statutory rights).
  • v1.0 — August 23, 2026: First version establishing cancellation mechanics, the ordinary refund practice, EU and UK withdrawal information, and non-excludable consumer-rights carve-outs.
